No More Heroes

Edwin nodded, but kept his hands raised, ready to use his magic, "That is true, in everything I've read, daemons that choose to 'adopt' one of another species, the adopted is ALWAYS called the 'adoptive kin'."

Iselia went into a rage and charged at Faust and Edwin. Faust burned her left side, but it did not stop her.

Edwin dodged under Iselia and immediately created a spear out of ice and tried to stab Iselia through the abdomen but to no avail. Instead he received a mighty blow to his side from Iselia's fist, "Ack!" He spluttered as he flew through the air.

Hitting the ground, he immediately got back up and moved his free hand in an intricate pattern, water swirled around Iselia, forming a cage made out of super-chilled ice, "The tiniest drop of water can undo the greatest of mountains." He grunted.

Iselia growled and sank into the ground. Faust looked around and said "she be gone. We be takin' Senri Fig now" Senri poked his head in the doorway and squeaked "me?"

Edwin breathed out slowly, releasing the ice cage, "Yes, you Senri. If Faust says we need you, then we must."

Turning to Faust, "I'll meet you at the south gate in about an hour, I have to take Shu to get some supplies."

"B-bu-bu-bu--" Faust cut off Senri's stuttering "we be waiting for you"

Faust looked at the Fae and said "do you know any of the ancient tongues?"

"I know a scattering of the old tongue." Edwin volunteered.

"I only be knowin' one, I be lucky. Senri be knowin' almost, if not all, ancient tongues. We be needin' him for the invokin' rituals"

Edwin nodded and walked past Shu, "Let's go."

Senri's eyes were as wide as saucers. The Last time he left the city walls was when he was a child and some human children locked him out in the middle of the night. The only reason he survived was because a sentry spotted him while he was being attacked by animals and saved him.

At the gate Faust smiled and hummed as they waited. Senri, on the other hand, looked like a condemned man waiting for the gallows.

Edwin walked up to them, purse a bit lighter, but it didn't matter to him, he was known to donate what he had to people around town, "Shu's coming." He said shortly.

Faust signaled for the guards to open the gates and said "we be headin' to Dikoji. Everybody be ready?" Senri hung his head and replied "I'll never be ready for this"

"I'm ready." Edwin smiled.

As they headed out Faust explained "We be lookin' for the one that invoked She who Fell. We be needin' all the heroes"

Edwin nodded, not saying anything.

Senri looked at Faust and replied "b-but no one has ever r-returned from Dikoji!" Faust smiled at Senri

Immediately the hairs on the back of Edwin's neck bristled, "Dikoji? The Land of Darkness? Where the adventurer Pon disappeared?"

Considering for a moment, "I'm in. I've always been curious about Dikoji." He grinned with curiosity in his eyes.

Faust looked at Edwin and said "You be knowin' Pon? I forgot he be famous"

Faust giggled and said "be stayin' with me and you'll be safe. I be knowin' secret way"

They approached the edge of the woods and Faust asked "everyone be ready? No wanting to be turning back?" Senri tried to sneak away, but Faust held him by the collar of his coat.

Edwin grinned and nodded, "I'm ready."
