Re: Talking Box
Good news: I didn't go *splat* on the floor earlier today.
Holy mother of god, that was one of the best goddamned experiences I feel like I'll ever have the privilege of having. I...haven't the words to explain it yet, right now I'm still getting over the hype and adrenaline rush of the jump like...5 hours later.
I'll post my experience later on, and put up a youtube video of my jump as well (they gave us a DVD of my jump).

My Skydiving Experience
Most of the initial bits were nice and simple, but there was a bit of a downer at first. While I was signing the waver, they showed me a video of a guy saying "There is no guarantee you'll land in one piece. You can't sue us. Deal with it," essentially, then they took me to get geared up. There I had your average, run-of-the-mill instructor doing the whole "What's the first most important thing to do when skydiving? That's right, it's 'Have Fun'!" spiel. They interviewed me for a second (For the DVD thing that I intend to clip out), then lead me out to the plane.
We flew up for a bit, no seat belts and basically nudged right up into my instructor's crotch with another nudged right up into mine. Soon enough, when I figured we were high enough, two guys opened the plane door and made their way out. What was weird is before they exited the plane, I couldn't hear the wind, the MOMENT they were out of the plane they completely dropped from view AND I heard that very sharp wind sound when they left. When they left, I figured that was where we were getting out, since my instructor had attached himself to me in preparation for the tandem jump, NOPE! We were going higher...
When we finally got to the right height, more people in front of us started leaving, and I got to hear one teenage girl's scream fade away before we got into a squatting position and waddled over to the edge of the plane. Just outside was our camera-girl, hanging onto a bar just outside the plane, then I looked down real quick. My feet were just over the edge of the plane (halfway in, halfway out), we were 13,500 feet above the ground, and all I heard was the wind. I heard the instructor go "3...2...1...GO!" and we basically fell out of the plane torso first.
First thing I registered was the sudden gush of wind up against me, and I had to fight the urge to grab at the air instinctively (I was informed I had to hold onto my harness until the guy I was attached to tapped my shoulders a few times) and just stare downward into the rushing air at the floor. As expected, I kind of screamed out in a mix of fear and thrill, and couldn't hear myself do it, which was a bit...new. Then I felt that tap on my shoulders and moved my arms out to that typical 90 degree spiel, and looked up to see the camera-girl flying just out in front of us and recording us. I gave her a thumbs-up or two, smiled, then stared back downwards in that same mix of emotions. Only about now did my body start to register just how bloody cold it was getting with all that wind, and I started to wonder just how long we'd be falling. If I had to guess, it was about 20 seconds before the guy pulled the parachute.
Now that I could hear my screams, they slowly started dying out. He guided my hands up to the holds for the parachute, and I tried to get my beating heart to slow the hell down. There, he did the whole, "Congratulations, you've just experienced Freefalling!" spiel, and gave me a tutorial on how to guide the parachute in certain directions. I wiped the slobber off my face, and just relaxed as we descended down to the floor.
We landed, he detached me, and already the camera-girl was up in front of me saying, "Congratulations and welcome to skydiving!" I'm still struggling to my feet at this point, just giving her a nod and a chuckle. Then she asks, on camera, "If you had to summarize this entire experience in one word, what would it be?" I nearly fell over, still getting my equilibrium, then turned to her and said, "Again."

Gotta be your 18th birthday I'm afraid. If/when that happens, though, DEFINITELY try to bring me along. I'm honestly eager to go after it again.
Oh, and it's almost $300 for your first jump, not counting DVD, but discounts from that point onward.

Re: Talking Box
im going crazy without dan, my mom is being a bitch with me. she hasinvited him to come swimming with us later in july, and to supper again. she never does that with dan. she has been overly friendly with tom, and i dont know what to do. i like tom, he is a good friend, but i dont know why my mom is being abnormally friendly towards him, and letting me hang out with him more than i usually hang out with dan, and everybody else. ahhhhhh.
Re: Talking Box
She's manipulating you. By spending more time with someone else, she hopes to break down your connection with Dan. (No offense if you read this Tom) Don't fall for it.

Re: Talking Box
yes. it appears so. he told me his family's history, and i kinda tracked it on my family tree. we are related, but distantly. he would be my fourth cousin four times removed, etc. on my moms side. it gets complicated after awhile.
this is why i am so confused.

Aww damn, sorry Steph. I'll try to slow the hell down in most of the posts. Probably take 5 minutes between them on youtube/mc/other video game.
