Itachi smiled as the two left the palace. He was instantly drawn to the marketplace. So many people, no angry shouting, no one telling children to slow down. Just simple life as it was meant to be.

Takeru Yamino

    Takeru stayed primp and proper by the prince's side as the strolled down the streets of the city. He knew he shouldn't be, but he was enjoying the nice, care-free expression Itachi was wearing at the moment.

    Suddenly, Takeru saw a motion from the corner of his eye. Warning signals went off in his head, and he quickly drew his sword. Many towns people shrieked and jumped back when Takeru's sword clashed with someone elses. A hooded figure, but the momentum made his hood fall off, revealing a demon.

    Takeru's eyes widened, remembering his mission. He could pretend to fail at protecting the prince, and let the others kill him, but...

    "Itachi! Be careful!" The demon yelled out as he kicked swung at the demon, cutting his chest before kicking him down. A few more hooded demons came out from various allyways, and he grit his teeth together.

Itachi Bakura

Itachi ran into the crowd, hopeing to lose the attackers, but instead of losing them he ran right into their arms. A large hooded man called to the others "I have the prince! Let's go!" The demon that had attacked Takeru called back "what about Takeru?" The large demon growled "forget him!"

Itachi struggled uselessly against the man, but he wouldn't let go. They left quickly and Itachi yelled "Takeru!"

    Takeru whirled around to find the demons holding the prince. His eyes widened, and he turned around to run towards him.

    "Itachi--!" A demon caught onto his arm and pulled him back, two other demons joining to help take Takeru down. He wouldn't let it though, for he pulled out his sword and quickly slashed away at two of the demons.

    "Takeru, what are you doing?! Have you forgotten your mission?" The demon that was left glared at him, and he simply frowned at him. He didn't have a reason to be saving the prince; he could just let them kill him right now, but again, there was that feeling that he couldn't shake off, that he had to go and save him.

    The guard cut down the last of the demons, and turned around to follow after Itachi, but there was no one there. Damn; where had they taken him?

A little girl approached the prince's guard and said "They headed off towards the mountains Mr. Guard. They were going really fast. What do they want with the prince?"

Meanwhile, at the mountain cave, Itachi screamed as the demons burned his wrists. He didn't understand why they hadn't killed him yet, perhaps they wanted to make a game out of him.

    Takeru turned to look down at the little girl. Oh great; he wasn't good with kids at all, but he leaned down to listen to her anyways. This child had sharp eyes, he noticed; no wonder she had seen what happened. The demon nodded, awkwardly patting the girl on the head.

    "Thank you. Don't worry; your prince will be safe." He quickly took off without another glance behind him, heading towards the mountains. He was quite strong, and quite fast. He had reached the base of the mountain in no time, and had started scouting the area for a place the others could have possibly taken Itachi. He grit his teeth; so much trouble. And for what? why the hell was he doing this anyways? His thoughts, his brain, his heart... they never answered the questions that hung around him at all times.

Itachi mouth moved uselessly, trying to say Takeru's name. The demons had locked him in a cell in the back of the cave. Two demons were in the cell with him. The others were busy trying to get an intruder.

The two demons with Itachi had been beating him, leaving him with a black eye, cut lip, and cracked rips. Now, the two were just laughing at his pitiable attempt at saying his guard's name.
